Rescue animals got the Christmas they deserved thanks to Harper’s Veterinary Society.
25 January 2022

The Veterinary Society was created a few years ago to enable like-minded people to come together and socialise as well as show their love for animals by participating in a variety of activities, including creating their own version of the well-known Christmas Shoe Box Appeal.
Christmas is often a difficult time for rescue and rehoming shelters with cold, short days and often a reduced number of donations as people start to prepare for Christmas.
The Harper Adams Veterinary Society took the opportunity to show their members’ appreciation and love for our furry friends by collecting and donating a mixture of toys, treats and blankets to provide comfort and entertainment for the animals, as well as assist staff in looking after them on a day-to-day basis.
Society members donated items for animals housed at two local rescue centres: Shropshire Cat Rescue and Hilbrae Dog Rescue Kennels.
When they arrived at the kennels, they saw first-hand the amazing work that the staff do, as well as seeing the residents enjoy their new toys!
We are very happy that we have been able to contribute to the local community through a charitable act and would like to thank all the members who took part to make an extra special Christmas for the not-so-fortunate animals at the kennels.
We hope to organise other activities throughout the year that will enable members to interact with animals and contribute to charitable organisations.
Our society is not limited to Veterinary students - anyone is welcome to join, whether for the interaction with animals on trips and visits or just for the social side.
We are always welcoming new members, so if you would like to join then please get in contact with myself or another executive who can point you in the right direction!
